About The Role

DPMC seeks an accomplished litigator to join the firm’s Litigation Practice Group. The requirement for this role is 1,600 annual billable hours. The ideal candidate should be skilled at handling cases from inception through resolution. This role involves managing a diverse caseload and delivering strategic advice to clients. Candidates will support numerous governmental entities and private clients in the state of California. DPMC offers a hybrid work environment. Expect to thrive with in-person mentorship and training provided by the industry’s most reputable Public Agency attorneys. As litigators, you can expect a short two-minute walk to the San Diego Courthouse from our headquarters. Work-from-home flexibility is also available to support work-life balance.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute case strategies, including risk assessment, discovery, motion practice, and trial preparation
  • Work closely with clients to provide clear legal advice, case assessments, and updates on case developments
  • Support all stages of litigation, including pleadings, discovery, depositions, pre-trial motions, and settlement negotiations
  • Collaborate with expert witnesses, including medical, forensic, engineering, and economic experts, to strengthen case arguments

Qualifications

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school
  • Active license to practice law in California
  • Minimum 2 years of litigation experience
  • Public agency experience preferred
  • Proven ability to manage and prioritize a large, demanding caseload with limited oversight
  • Exceptional oral advocacy, legal writing, and negotiation skills
  • Strong client relationship management skills with an ability to communicate complex legal strategies effectively
  • Experience with e-discovery tools and case management software
